The student guide

Staying informed. Looking after yourself.

A practical approach to wellbeing and preparedness while studying abroad.

Use current, local information

Conditions can change. Review official Embassy of India guidance and the university’s instructions before travel and during your stay. A general country description cannot establish the situation in a particular city, neighbourhood or travel route on a given date. Embassy of India, Moscow: Education guidance ↗

Make checking official notices part of your routine. Ask the international office which communication channels it uses and how students receive urgent updates.

Keep a simple contact plan

  • University international office and residence administration.
  • The local EduRussia contact, where included in your agreed arrangements.
  • Family or another trusted person in India.
  • Relevant embassy or consular contact information from the official website.
  • Local emergency and health-service numbers provided by the university.

Documents, money and digital accounts

Keep your passport and essential records secure, with protected copies available if originals are lost. Use strong account security and be cautious with requests for money or documents. Verify unusual payment instructions through a contact channel you already trust.

Understand how you can access funds if your usual method is unavailable. Discuss a contingency with family and your bank before it is needed. Keep receipts and avoid sharing banking credentials or identity documents in public groups.

Your wellbeing is part of studying

Sleep, meals, movement and social connection support the routine of demanding coursework. Know how to obtain healthcare, what your insurance covers and whom to contact for a persistent concern. If you use prescribed medication, ask the appropriate professionals and authorities about travel requirements and local continuity of care.

Observe local laws and university rules. Ask if something is unclear. Social-media advice from another student may be useful context, but it should not replace official information about legal or medical matters.

Talk early

Tell the appropriate support person about a problem while there is time to help. For an immediate emergency, use local emergency services. For administrative or everyday difficulties, use the university’s established process and keep the family informed at a level that supports your independence.
