  Peoples' Friendship University of Russia
  The Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia is one of the leading state higher educational institutions of Russia. It is the only university in the world every year uniting students from 140 countries. The University has a multiprofile structure of faculties and majors, typical for classical universities of the world.   I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy
  I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University is the oldest leading medical university in Russia that has become a cradle of most medical schools and scientific societies of Russia. Today the academy is a major center for training, certification and upgrading the medical personnel and pharmacists. Academic studies are closely integrated with fundamental and applied research, providing highly qualified medical care to the population and promoting the advances of medical science and pharmaceutics.
It has 20 buildings for studies, classrooms and lecture halls, a clinical center with 17 diverse clinics for 3000 patients, the research center, the main library, publishing section, a video-photo department, the laboratories, the botanical garden and several students' hostels. About 9000 students from Russia and foreign countries study annually at the Academy. They are trained in:

  Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy
  Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy is a major center for training medical practitioners in one of the largest regions of the European part of Russia. The medical faculty was opened in 1920 as a faculty of Nizhny Novgorod University. In May, 1930 it became an independent Medical Institute and in June 1994 it got a status of the State Medical Academy. In 1992 the Faculty of Overseas Admissions was opened in NNSMA. Since 1998/99 academic year the Academy has started training international students in the English Medium. More than 600 international students from 38 countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America (Sri-Lanka, Malaysia, Morocco, Tanzania, Kenya, Syria and others) are being trained in Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy. The total number of students is 2500.
THE FOLLOWING FACULTIES ARE AVAILABLE AT THE ACADEMY:
    1. FACULTY OF GENERAL MEDICINE: - is the biggest one. About half of all the students of the Academy specialize in Surgery, Therapy, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Neurology etc. The training course lasts for 6 years.
    2. PEDIATRIC FACULTY: physicians are taught here to treat children. The Regional Pediatric Hospital and the Institute for Pediatric Research have been selected as teaching hospitals. Duration of the course is 6 years.
    3. FACULTY OF PREVENTIVE MEDICINE: specialists are trained here to implement the main prophylactic principles of public health to prevent diseases. Graduates from the Faculty are qualified as Hygienists and Epidemiologists. Duration of the course is 6 years.
    4. FACULTY OF DENTISTRY: specialists in Dentistry are trained here. After the basic course graduate students ought to have special primary internship training in the following branches: Dental Therapy, Dental Surgery, Dental Orthopedics, Pediatric Dentistry. Duration of training is 5 years.
    5. PHARMACY FACULTY: prepares pharmacists. Duration of the course is 5 years.

Postgraduate courses are also provided for both Russian and international students. Among the courses are Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Radiology, General Surgery, Traumatology and Orthopedics, Cardiovascular Surgery, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Surgery, Obstetric and Gynaecology, Epidemiology, Hygiene, Microbiology and Orthodontics.
   
  Tambov State University
  Tambov State University was founded in 1843 as the Alexandrinsky Institution. In its history of more than 167 years of existence, many changes have been introduced and in 1994 by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation it gained the status of Tambov State G.R. Derzhavin University. The city of Tambov founded in 1636 is the centre of the Tambov area situated in the central part of Russia, close to Moscow, the capital city of Russia. University students make up more than 10% of the total of the city population. This fact illustrates the attractiveness of the city to young people who wish to get a high quality tertiary education in a modern, rapidly growing and a developing city.
The infrastructure of the city and universities allows the students to combine successfully their studies with leisure providing all facilities for sports and entertaining activities.   Astrakhan State Medical Academy
  Astrakhan is situated in the south of the European part of Russia. This is the very place where Europe meets Asia, and the cultures of the two nations intertwine closely.   Tomsk State Polytechnic University
  Tomsk Polytechnic University was founded in 1896 as Tomsk Technological Institute of Emperor Nicholas II. The first technical higher educational institution in Russia on the large territory to the east of Moscow was led by Professor Efim L. Zubashev who laid the foundation for the development of the best traditions of TPU as a large Siberian centre for education and research In 1934, the three institutes in Tomsk reunited to form a new institute that would be named the Tomsk Polytechnic Institute.   Gubkin State University of Petroleum, Oil & Gas
  Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, Russia’s principal higher educational institution of petroleum engineering celebrated its 80th anniversary in April 2010. Established on the base of the Faculty of Petroleum at theMoscow Mining Academy, Gubkin University follows the best traditions of the national higher education system. During the last eighty years, the University has developed a wide research capacity, which has led to the development of many new methods of exploration, production, transportation, refining and processing of hydrocarbons.
Gubkin had trained over 70 000 diploma engineers, candidates and doctors of science, many of whom are presently top executives of oil and gas companies. The University is proud of its alumni who are working in the petroleum majors of Russia. Over time the Moscow Institute of ON became the principal school of the industry. It has developed efficient educational methods and forms and formulated new R&D trends covering the whole spectrum of industry issues.
The University scholars have taken part in the exploration of the Arctic off-shore fields, the Siberian tundra and taiga, the deserts of the Middle Asia. They have also designed new equipment and know-how for waste-free and environmentally clean refining and processing of hydrocarbons.
Gubkin R&D efforts, which presently involve 27 programs, are deeply rooted in the leading research schools that were established during the years of the Univer¬sity’s development. Today Gubkin’s total enrolment accounts for 7,000 students with a faculty of 200 professors, doctors of science and about 600 assistant professors and candidates of science. Over 300 Gubkin researches have been awarded state and governmental prizes ofRussia.
A specific feature of Russia’s higher technical school is its close links with industry. Following the best of the national traditions the University works in close contact with the enterprises of the oil and gas industry.
We train specialists for the research institutions and companies, and the latter in turn offer their facilities and staff for the students to do practical projects and work on their term and graduate theses. The University co-operates with all oil and gas majors and refineries of Russia.
The heads of the companies have established the Council of Trustees and the Fund for Petroleum Engineering Education Development, which give the students a wonderful opportunity to visit different far-off parts of the country such as the Island of Sakhalin and Kamchatka, the Barents Sea, Siberia and the Volga Region.
   
  Ryazan State I.P. Pavlov Medical University
  Ryazan State Medical University is one of the largest profile institutions of higher education in the Central Federal district of Russia, a lot of highly qualified specialists have been prepared for native system of public health over a period of more than fifty years.
The University has a modernized management structure, well-equipped material and technical basis; it applies modern technology of educational and scientific activity and clinical practice.
Nowadays the University realizes instruction of specialists in 10 programs of higher education, most popular of them are “General medicine”, “Pharmacy”, “Dentistry”; trains for intership-30 different specialties, residency- 57 specialties, post-graduate course – 38 specialties; doctorate – 4 specialties, provides retraining and advanced training courses.

Scientific authority of the University won the international recognition. University professors are the members of European expanded society, international pulmonary organizations GOLD, GINA, ICC, European respiratory society. A group of scientists under the direction of Professor Abrosimov N.V. takes part in a realization of the World health organization project «GARD» (Global Alliance against Chronic Respiratory Diseases).
Quantitatively enlarging its possibilities, the University carries about quality of offered services as well. In 2009 the University has successfully passed a certification on the Quality Management System (QMS), introduced on the basis of the national standard GOST Р 52614.2-2006 and the international standard ISO series 9001:2000, which has demonstrated the Russian and international community of its compliance with all international standards of quality.
The University is listed in the section “The Elite of Russian Health” of the Russian National Register “Hundred best institutions of the health care system” is a laureate of the award “Profession-Life” in the nomination “Medical school of the year” and the international award “European Quality”.
Innovative methods and means of teaching are widely used in the educational process, are being actively implemented the latest technology of educational activity: point-rating system of assessing students' knowledge, online testing, actively initiated by the academic mobility of students and teachers.

  Saratov State Medical University
  Saratov State Medical University is one of the oldest universities in Russia. It was founded in 1909. At that time Saratov State Medical University was organized as the only faculty of the University which was the 10th in Russia.
The founder and the first Rector was Professor Vassily Razumovsky, an outstanding surgeon. He is considered to be the founder of a neurosurgery school in Russia.
In 1909, 93 students were admitted to the University. Only men were allowed to study. The education was paid. Several Departments in the basic sciences were opened. They were Physiology, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, General Surgery.
Then, in 1911 a new group of Departments started to function — Pathological Anatomy, Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy, Histology, General Hygiene, Forensic Medicine. In 1930 reorganization in the field of education in Russia was carried out and many independent Institutes were organized.
The Medical Faculty of Saratov University became an independent Medical Institute. Three faculties were organized — Medical, Sanitary-Prophylactic (but it soon stopped its existence) and Care of Mother and Child (which was soon renamed as a Faculty of Pediatrics).
By 1935 the Institute had about l600 students. In 1939 one more faculty was founded — the Faculty of Training Military Physicians — specialists for Army service. But during the World War II it stopped functioning and resumed its work only in late fifties.
After the World War II many new Departments were opened — mainly for the Faculty of Pediatrics — Propedeutics of Pediatric Diseases, Internal Diseases and Surgery for pediatricians. In 1961 one more faculty started its work. It was the Faculty of Postdipioma continuing education. It was meant for refresher training of specialists, as well as for interns, residents and postgraduates. Once in 3—5 years specialists should take the refresher courses.
The population of Saratov is about 1 mln. people, it lacked qualified dental service and in 1988 it was decided to open a Faculty of Dentistry. So in the beginning of 90s Saratov Medical Institute had the following faculties — Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Pediatrics, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of postdiploma education and that training military doctors. In 1993 the Institute was again renamed and got the original name of the University. First foreign students appeared in 1991.
The first batch consisted only of Indian students. Now 500 students from different foreign countries are studying at the University. Since the year of its foundation the University follows the classic system of training medical students.
   
  Volgograd State Medical University
  Volgograd State Medical University is located in a city called Volgograd which is situated in the southern part of Russia on the west bank of the Volga River. It started as Stalingrad Medical Institute founded in 1935. In 1993 it got the status of the Academy, and in 2003 it was granted the status of the University. Nowadays the University ranks very high among the medical schools of the Russian Federation. Many scientists of the University are world-famous owing to their great contribution to the theory and practice of medicine. The University has been training international students since 1962. Students from 113 states of the former Soviet Union, Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa have studied at our University. Over this period 3000 physicians, dentists and paediatricians and pharmacists have been trained for foreign countries. Since 2000 the Volgograd State Medical University has got an opportunity to teach foreign students in the English language.
The pre-clinical courses are provided at the 4 main buildings of the university while the clinical courses are provided at 15 multiprofile clinics equipped with up-to-date facilities. The main building houses a well-stocked library with over 700 000 books in different languages. International students can also get a lot of information from a variety of journals from UK, US, Germany and so on. To facilitate students the library works till 19:00 in the evening on weekdays. The university also provides free Internet service for all students. Students also have the opportunity to conduct research at the different departments of the university.
The university has a department for physical training. It includes a gym, sports ground and an indoor mini stadium. It also rents a swimming pool and a big stadium. During the first two years of study it is compulsory for students to attend physical training after which they can opt for training in different sports. Every year the department also conducts competitions for different sports.
 
  Tver State Medical Academy
  For more than 70 years the Tver State Medical Academy has been playing a leading role in the development of medical science and training of medical practitioners and scientists. It is always among the top 10 Medical Educational Institutions according to the annual official rating of the 48 Russian Medical Educational Institutions.   Novgorod State University, founded in 1932, bears the name of Prince Yaroslav the Wise of Novgorod. The University incorporates 4 institutes, the Academy of Agriculture and Natural Resources, 4 university general faculties and 5 colleges.
At the 23 faculties of the University more than 60 specialities are taught in the areas of Medicine, Engineering and Technology, Economics and Humanities, including those that are available for postgraduate studies.   St.Petersburg State Polytechnical University was founded in 1899. Recently SPbSPU became "National Research University", also known in Russia and abroad as Polytechnic Institute — a recognized Russian and world-wide leader in the field of higher engineering and economic education.
Currently it also remains at the leading positions in the rating of Russian engineering higher educational institutions.At the present time in SPbSPU there are 30197 students and postgraduates, 3056 of them are foreign citizens from 96countries who annually study at different SPbSPU programs.
